CREEK ANTIQUES – Jack Neuswanger is retired
but has become a joyful woodworker whose work can be seen
and purchased at Cedar Creek Antiques on the Settlement’s
2nd Floor. Jack takes a piece of wood and looks for the
inner beauty. Each piece is unique, from greenwood to
wormy partially decayed chunks of wood. Some of the wood
he uses, he’s purchased, but “found”
wood is often the most interesting. Jack is well-known
for his bowls and vases, the shape governed by the characteristics
of the piece of wood being turned. Although his masterful
hobby gives him pleasure, Jacks say’s “if
you like one of my pieces, that pleasure is increased”.
Come see the product’s of his artful craft. |

CREEK POTTERY - Cedar Creek Pottery Goes Totally
Square!
Two of the newest arrivals at Cedar Creek Pottery feature
square plates for a contemporary look with clean, sharp
lines.
Jeff Rottman, of Dutch Lake Pottery in Grand Rapids,
Michigan, offers dinnerware as landscape with his subtle,
yet striking contrast of mellow, periwinkle sky with
seductive, sage green earth separated by an eye-catching
tan horizon line. His voluptuously undulating edges
dance around a sharply squared off center that mingles
with the terrain of his glazes, creating a fluid beauty
that will beg to be left outside the cupboard between
meals.

LILLIES
- Fairly Traded/Earth Friendly Meaningful Goods. 3rd Floor.The
warm weather is finally here, and we have many items for
your summer enjoyment. Fair trade soccer balls, made in
Pakistan. Unless parents are paid a fair
wage, extreme poverty forces them to put their children
to work. Fair Trade Sports is one of the few sport retailers
that can truly guarantee their products are made by adults
who are paid a fair wage in a decent working environment;
the rubber comes from sustainably run forests in Sri Lanka
and India. Frisbees - hemp & recycled; hand painted
fair trade kites; baseball
jewelry - earrings, tie tacks, cuff links made from real
retired baseballs; and many crazy garden sculptures.
Relax in one of our unique willow chairs or benches. New
in this month is a line of organic pesticides for your
garden - only certified organic oils from Pharm Solutions.
We also now have hemp jewelry per your request. We have
Osprey resource backpacks made from 70 - 86% recycled
content - made primarily from plastic water & soda
bottles. New styles and colors are coming in. We have
the Invisible Child bracelets - all proceeds are returned
to the Invisible Children organization. This organization
raises money, and brings to light the thousands of children
who are stuck in the middle of the war. Mass kidnapping
for child soldiers is a continued fear of children of
northern Uganda. The bracelets are made by refugees of
the war who aretrying to get by while living in refugee
camps. |
