A
FEAST FOR THE SENSES…
CEDARBURG’S WINE & HARVEST FESTIVAL
SEPTEMBER 18 & 19, 2010
Spend a sweet, end-of-summer weekend in the country in Historic Cedarburg
during Wine & Harvest Festival, Saturday, September 18 from 10-6 &
Sunday, September 19 from 10-5. Both the abundance of Wisconsin’s
homegrown produce and artisan food products plus the award-winning wines
of Cedar Creek Winery are what initiated this 38th annual free, family-oriented
event.
The many and varied Festival Food Booths feature steamed corn, caramel
apples, caramel apple pie squares, kettle corn, apple cider, homemade
ice cream, turkey legs, brats, burgers, grilled foods and savory/sweet
delights. The Farmer’s Market brims with seasonal fruits and vegetables,
flowers and plants, herbs and apples. At Cedar Creek Winery booths you’ll
find wine by the glass. Locally produced foodstuffs such as honey, syrup,
cheese, sausage and jellies are in the Marketplace.
Festival fans can kick back and listen to Live Music all over town, featuring
Top Forty, Bluegrass, Folk and Rock & Roll bands. The Scarecrow Contest
is a seasonal favorite with dozens of winsome and whimsical hand-made
straw-stuffed characters on display throughout the historic district.
For a quick shuttle around town, hop aboard a tractor-drawn hayride wagon.
Treasures are just waiting to be discovered at Arts on the Avenue, with
more than 200 juried booths presented by the Cedarburg Garden Club, Cedarburg
Cultural Center and Ozaukee Art Center along Washington Avenue. Drop in
at both the Cedarburg Cultural Center for the Cedarburg Artists Guild’s
annual juried Fall Show and the Wisconsin Museum of Quilts and Fiber Arts
special events and activities.
The Annual Great Pumpkin Charity Regatta is so much fun we’re doing
it again. The 2009 event was a youtube favorite with gigantic, hollowed-out,
floatable pumpkins, piloted by intrepid paddlers’ attempting to
race across Cedar Creek. The festival’s Henry’s Kids Korner
activities will encompass a variety of activities geared for children,
including Pumpkin Painting. At The Shops of Cedar Creek Settlement, the
Winery’s hilarious Grape Stomp is a daily crowd-pleaser with the
Kid’s Stomp at 1:00 & 3:00 and the Adult’s Stomp at 2:00
& 4:00. Other competitions include Grape Spitting at 2:15 and Apple
Bobbing at 3:30 daily and families will delight in the enchanting Scarecrow
Sculpture Garden.
