Cedar
Creek Winery and Cedar Creek Settlement merchants, located in
the charming and historic 1864 Cedar Creek
Settlement, are hosting the 18th Annual Open House, Saturday,
March 15 from 10-5 and Sunday, March 16 from 11-5. This event
is free and open to the public. Enjoy two festive and celebratory
days, featuring: barrel tasting 2007 vintages, live jazz, cooking-with-wine
demonstrations & samplings, wine tastings, a live benefit
auction, special events, food samplings, spring showcases and
more in the Shops of Cedar Creek Settlement
This year’s event will celebrate the Cedar Creek Winery
Estate Grown and Bottled Wines: Old Mill Red, Hillside Red and
Hillside Blossoms Blush. A highlight of the Open House offers
guests the opportunity to barrel-taste selected 2007 Cedar Creek
vintages with Winemaker Philippe Coquard at 1:00 & 3:00, as
well as sampling Cedar Creek Winery’s many gold award-winning
wines: Vidal, Pinot Grigio, Cabernet and Waterfall Riesling. Open
House guests will sample wines directly from the barrel. Grapevine
Pruning Demonstrations with Philippe will be Saturday at 11:00
am.
The Artisan Charity Auction
live voice auction is Saturday at 3:30 p.m. Cedar Creek Settlement
merchants and other Cedarburg businesses have donated dozens of
wonderful items, including jewelry, wine, framed prints, pottery,
gift certificates and more. Proceeds from this auction will benefit
Special Olympics. Come bid on a dazzling “little something”
and support a worthy cause.
Enjoy live jazz Saturday and Sunday from 12:30-3:30 with the acclaimed
nationally and regionally known smooth jazz group The Gary Davis
Quartet, spotlighting Gary’s newest CD: Playing My Dues,
www.garydavisband.com. Enjoy the delightful Cooking-With-Wine
demonstrations and samplings with Chef Lisa Taft from The Anvil
Pub and Grille creating shrimp & chicken scampi at 2:00 p.m.
Saturday and Steve and Patty Ehlers cooking with wine and cheese
from Larry’s Market at 2:00 p.m. Sunday.
Settlement Merchants will host in-store special features, including
Cedar Creek Pottery’s on-going Artist Demonstrations, Specialty
Food Tastings at Cedar Creek Trading Post and Peddler’s
Corner, a free Burt’s Bees product-with-purchase at Robin’s
Nest, a handmade Mini-Easter Nest with Lavender from Newberry
Thicket, a peek at the newly expanded clothing shop A Little Pizzazz
as well as new boutiques, La Diva, Alpaca Attic, Lillies and The
Mayflower Shop.
Visitors will be captivated by this village of 28 gift and antique
shops, artists studios, and restaurants located in the former
1864 Wittenberg Woolen Mill buildings. Plan a trip to the Winery/Settlement
