Cedar Creek Winery and Cedar Creek Settlement merchants, located in the charming and historic 1864 Cedar Creek Settlement, are hosting the 18th Annual Open House, Saturday, March 15 from 10-5 and Sunday, March 16 from 11-5. This event is free and open to the public. Enjoy two festive and celebratory days, featuring: barrel tasting 2007 vintages, live jazz, cooking-with-wine demonstrations & samplings, wine tastings, a live benefit auction, special events, food samplings, spring showcases and more in the Shops of Cedar Creek Settlement

This year’s event will celebrate the Cedar Creek Winery Estate Grown and Bottled Wines: Old Mill Red, Hillside Red and Hillside Blossoms Blush. A highlight of the Open House offers guests the opportunity to barrel-taste selected 2007 Cedar Creek vintages with Winemaker Philippe Coquard at 1:00 & 3:00, as well as sampling Cedar Creek Winery’s many gold award-winning wines: Vidal, Pinot Grigio, Cabernet and Waterfall Riesling. Open House guests will sample wines directly from the barrel. Grapevine Pruning Demonstrations with Philippe will be Saturday at 11:00 am.

The Artisan Charity Auction live voice auction is Saturday at 3:30 p.m. Cedar Creek Settlement merchants and other Cedarburg businesses have donated dozens of wonderful items, including jewelry, wine, framed prints, pottery, gift certificates and more. Proceeds from this auction will benefit Special Olympics. Come bid on a dazzling “little something” and support a worthy cause.
Enjoy live jazz Saturday and Sunday from 12:30-3:30 with the acclaimed nationally and regionally known smooth jazz group The Gary Davis Quartet, spotlighting Gary’s newest CD: Playing My Dues, www.garydavisband.com. Enjoy the delightful Cooking-With-Wine demonstrations and samplings with Chef Lisa Taft from The Anvil Pub and Grille creating shrimp & chicken scampi at 2:00 p.m. Saturday and Steve and Patty Ehlers cooking with wine and cheese from Larry’s Market at 2:00 p.m. Sunday.
Settlement Merchants will host in-store special features, including Cedar Creek Pottery’s on-going Artist Demonstrations, Specialty Food Tastings at Cedar Creek Trading Post and Peddler’s Corner, a free Burt’s Bees product-with-purchase at Robin’s Nest, a handmade Mini-Easter Nest with Lavender from Newberry Thicket, a peek at the newly expanded clothing shop A Little Pizzazz as well as new boutiques, La Diva, Alpaca Attic, Lillies and The Mayflower Shop.
Visitors will be captivated by this village of 28 gift and antique shops, artists studios, and restaurants located in the former 1864 Wittenberg Woolen Mill buildings. Plan a trip to the Winery/Settlement Open House and make a day of it. Find out why readers of Wisconsin Trails Magazine have named Cedarburg “the best place to spend the day shopping”.
